The earth offers such beauty in nature, the trees stand tall and majestic, flowers bloom beautifully in their season, and the grass grows and sways in unison to the breeze. The most beautiful and highly valued homes on the market mimic this beauty with hardscaping in areas such as stone patios, and outdoor fireplaces.

The most beautiful and highly valued homes on the market mimic this beauty with hardscaping in areas such as stone patios, and outdoor fireplaces.

Beautiful stone patios seem to be a thing of the past, only to be replaced by cheaper wooden patios. While the initial expense may seem worth it, wooden patios only create more work, and in the end, cost the homeowner much more than would a natural stone patio. Wooden patios must be installed. After instillation a varnish or weather protector must be added otherwise when it rains, the wood begins to rot. During every season wooden patios must also be cleaned to maintain their beauty, and the home owner must always be aware of weather changes, as hot humid weather can warp the wood, and extremely cold weather can make the wood become brittle. The homeowner must also take into consideration what they chose to put out on their patio. Many pieces of furniture can harm the wood or make dents, scratches, holes or otherwise unpleasant markings. Stone patios are not so. After a stone patio is installed, the homeowner does not have to spend countless hours cleaning it, as it looks to be a part of the nature around it. Also because it is made of stone it can withstand rain, snow, sleet and hail without having special treatments added. The home owner is also free to use whatever furniture they chose, as stone is able to withstand heavy weights, and is also resistant to scratching and denting. Stone patios do not have to be treated for each season, or constantly worked on.

Outdoor fireplaces that are done in brick are another thing that has been replaced with what people believe are cheaper, and easier versions. Cheap metal outdoor fireplaces can be purchased for anywhere from $100-$400 at any retailer who carries them. These cheap metal fireplaces do provide outdoor entertainment, but at a cost which most people do not recognize until much later. A metal fireplace must be constantly maintained. Although many claim to be weather resistant, over time the metal rusts, becomes dull and dingy, and eventually warps due to prolonged time in changing weather conditions. The proper care for these metal fireplaces ranges from cleaning the chimney, to cleaning the outside, to covering the fireplace, and sometimes moving it into a different environment completely. Outdoor fireplaces that are constructed in brick do not have these same issues. Brick masonry is very easy to clean. Therefore the user can clean the chimney, spray off the outside and they are finished. It also is able to withstand storms, rain and severe weather, making it unnecessary to cover. During the off season when an outdoor fireplace laid in brick is not being used, nature only adds to its beauty. Spider webs, squirrels playing and birds on an outdoor metal fire place all make it look dirty and less cared for, while these same things on an outdoor fireplace set in stone or brick make it look beautiful and part of nature. Brick fireplaces also do not have to be replaced overtime do to rust, dents, or scratches.

Nature provides its own beauty and now with stone patios and outdoor fireplaces constructed with brick masonry, homes can complement nature, and because stone masonry is unique, no one patio or fireplace will looks exactly like another. Because the quality is so high, one pays less in the long run for quality stone masonry than they do the cheap substitutes, providing nature and value to life.

Outstanding Work and Customer Service! Hugh and his team did a fantastic job on a challenging Allen Block wall and creek stabilization project. Hugh was very accommodating to requested changes during the project. Project clean-up was done right without need for any direction or suggestions. StoneAge is an excellent choice if you want a job done right without hassle at a reasonable price.

Awesome! - Hugh and his team are not contractors or masons, they're artists! My wife and I interviewed several companies to build our outdoor kitchen, firepit, and outdoor living space. After meeting with Hugh and discussing the project, we decided that StoneAge was the way to go. Wow, did we make the right decision! We knew it was going to be nice, but we had no idea it would be this beautiful. We now spend more time in our outdoor living space than we do indoors. The attention to detail and skill of Hugh and his team are second to none. We couldn't be happier with our decision to go with StoneAge Stonescapes! Thank you Hugh!

Hugh turned our rotted out deck and unsightly backyard into a beautiful oasis. I was unsure as to whether or not a flagstone patio would work with the configuration of our back yard and existing stack stone wall, but Hugh and his team did an incredible job creating a beautiful space. As the project progressed we even added on more work, boulder steps leading down to a lower existing patio, that also helped solve some drainage issues. The patio is truly a work of art and our backyard is now our favorite spot of our new home!

We wanted to remodel our patio but had trouble visualizing exactly what we wanted. Hugh and his team were able to take our basic ideas and create something exceptional. The creativity, craftsmanship, and quality of the work was all excellent. highly recommended!

Chris and Hugh were contracted to design a custom Forno Bravo Wood Fired pizza oven for my outdoor kitchen. They did a fantastic job and the installation far exceeded expectations.

Hugh and his team did a phenomenal job designing and installing our new outdoor kitchen. We challenged Hugh to match the style of our existing hardscape, and he came through with flying colors. StoneAge is truly a one-stop shop. Not only were they able to handle the construction of the kitchen area, but they also installed all of the components saving us both time and money on additional contractors. Lastly, the team is fastidious about keeping clean. At the end of each workday the area was thoroughly cleaned, with all tools and raw materials stored neatly away. I highly recommend StoneAge and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Hugh and his crew transformed our backyard from a hideous eyesore to a beautiful backyard oasis, with a large paver patio, retaining walls, stairs and landscaping. (He also solved the drainage problem so that grass can now grow in what was previously sludge.) Excellent craftsmanship and design skills, and we are very pleased with the results.

Last year, Hugh and his team constructed a flagstone patio and fireplace in our backyard. We recently called him back to complete all of the rock work(including a water feature for our new in-ground spa). His team did a great job again and we are very pleased with the work!

Hugh and his team of craftsmen/artists did an outstanding job on our patio flagstone extension with fire pit and our hillside water feature. They met and exceeded our expectations and they did it on time. We would highly recommend them to family and friends.

Hugh was great. He really worked with us to get us exactly what we needed. We didn't have a large budget, but Hugh worked with us to create a plan for the future, so that when we have more money, he can come back add more value to our property. We put in a poured concrete patio, and in the future, Hugh can add flagstone on top, and then add a deck on top of the finished patio. He gave us a quote that I felt was fair for him as well as fair for us. Even we he had to order an extra truck full of cement, the quote never changed. We are very happy with the workmanship of our product, and expect to use StoneAge Stonescapes again in the future.

Using StoneAge has been the best experience from a Kudzu recommendation. Hugh and team are visionaries and craftsmen. Hugh described his vision and as he progressed I had the confidence to tell him to do what he thought needed to be done. The result is amazing. I have people standing in front of my house taking pictures so they can try to implement some of the design ideas Hugh implemented. With the way Hugh and his crew work and their professionalism, this has to be one of the best value returns of dollars spent. Would not only recommend but will not use anyone else for future work!
  • Suwanee35, Home Owner - Kudzu

When we first met with Hugh to discuss upgrading our backyard, his response was, “When I'm finished, it will look like paradise." True to his word, that is exactly what we now have. From start to finish, Hugh and his crew worked tirelessly to bring our wishes to reality. Hugh really listened to us, and his suggestions and designs were always right on target. The pride StoneAge takes in their work is evident in everything they do, and they are without doubt, the nicest group of people we have ever worked with. So, if you are looking for honesty, integrity, value, and talent, look no further than Hugh Dixon and his team to exceed your expectations on your next landscaping project.
